The Updates of Life

Alrighty it is time to write a new post! A lot has happened since our last post. It is too hard and overwhelming to try and put a lot of detail but I will try to fill in the highlights. We got a friend for Atta in March and we named him Kenai. They were always together and the best of buds. Unfortunately, Kenai found some rat poison in our basement that we didn't even know existed. But leave it to Kenai to get into some major trouble. Anyway one morning he wasn't eating his breakfast (very unlike him) and acting sort of lethargic. Well when I got home from student teaching he was barely even walking. I rushed him to the vet. The vet asked if he had eaten rat poison and I told him we didn't have anything like that. They started a blood transfusion and he died that night in the middle of the transfusion. He was starting to perk up and get some of his color back, so we thought he would pull through. But I guess there was a different plan. We cried and cried for many days. We buried him in our backyard. We miss the little guy tremendously and his quirky ways. He loved to chase tennis balls and would jump up and down when we bounced them.
Which leads me to the next topic of where did Kenai find the rat poison. In the middle of July we closed on a house in Herriman. The old owners left a lot of stuff behind, like their whole custodial business' supplies. If anyone is in need of a floor buffer let me know. We immediately painted the most of the house because there were some pretty bright original colors. We still have not painted any of the bedrooms. Although one day they will need to be painted, for example in one room there is painted hills with a blue sky and a real picket fence nailed to the wall. :)
After Kenai passed away, Atta was acting very needy. We could not go anywhere without tripping over her. Also, Jason and I are both gone all day long so we knew we needed to get Atta a new friend. And we welcomed in our home a new 8 week old puppy. We named him Rex. He is 12 weeks now and doing great at potty training and learning a few tricks. He can roll over, sit, lay, and shake. He is not shy at all. Which is different from our other puppies we have had. Size or species does not matter. He is just as pleased to play with a cat as he is to play with my dad's german shorthair, Roxxy.
Jason is working at L-3 about 30 hours a week and going to school full-time. I'm real proud of him for working so hard. Although as I'm typing this he is playing hearts on the computer instead of studyin for his test. :) I am student teaching at West Jordan Middle School. My kids are too cute and I love their funny humors. My cooperating teacher is great and I'm learning a lot from her. In later posts I'll have to post more funny stories about them because I can go on and on. (Just ask Jason) Well that is kind of the update of my life in a nutshell. I hope to get better at this, but I doubt it. Life is kind of crazy and it is UEA this weekend so I had some extra time. I hope everyone is safe and happy. Until next time....

Atta

On March 5th our puppy is going to turn 5 months old. We bought a girl cocker spaniel when she was 6 weeks old. The first night with Atta I think Jason was ready at 3:00 AM to drive her straight back to Malad, ID. She cried and whined about 85% of the very, very long night. After about our first 12 hours life with Atta drastically improved. She is super smart and super cute. She is quickly growing and it makes me sad.

The start of Christmas Break

Today was the last day of finals for me!!! (Jason has one more tonight at 8) It is such a relief to have everything done. I can now start thinking about the fact that Christmas is exactly two weeks away. This will be Jason's and mine first Christmas as a family. We don't have any Christmas decorations other than a stocking that Jason's mom gave us that Jason used for a few years as a young tot. It really is a great touch for the Christmas season. We also have a little fake Christmas tree that my parents gave us, but as soon as I pulled it out of the box Atta was chewing on the branches. I figured it probably wouldn't last too long and sure enough not even two hours later Jason was putting it in the closet to hide it from Atta. We didn't even get to put lights or ornaments on it. So now we have a small, fake, undecorated Christmas tree hidden in the closet and a puppy stocking hanging on the doorknob in the hallway. That is the extent of our decorating.
It is kind of strange that I'm not packing my bags to go home. I'm going to spend most of the break in Logan with my husband. The break is really planned around Aggie basketball. We will go home the last game before Christmas and return the first game after Christmas. But those of you who know Jason can you really expect anything different? I mean this is the kid who planned his surgery around Aggie basketball. So we will go home the 23rd and return the 29th. We haven't fully planned out where we stay or if we will stay in one place the whole time or switch it up. I'm sure that will get figured out on an as need to know basis. Really only time will tell.
